Day/Night Retro-inspired Outfit Ideas on a Budget- red and black

Today's post is so exciting for me because I get to show you my sense of style! I typically opt for more comfortable pieces that still look nice. Here are my black and red outfits for day and night!

Day:
I love this outfit because it reminds me of Taylor Swift! The shorts are perfect for summer and are very flattering as the waist is a bit higher than normal shorts these days. Both the shorts ($30) and top ($25) are from Hot Topic, and they pair so well with these darling flats from Ross ($15)!
Total price of outfit: $70!

Night:
Along the same concept, my skirt ($8) from Ross paired beautifully with my $20 blouse and $25 cardigan from Hot Topic. I love how this looks with the top button buttoned. It gives the appearance of a wiggle dress and bolero, so that's awesome! I paired this with some $15 pointy black pumps. Gotta love Reflection!
Total price of outfit: $68!

Cute clothes don't always have to be super expensive, and I look forward to showing you all the ways I style myself without breaking the bank!
Have a beautiful day! <3

What I Eat in a Day!

As I mentioned in my first post, I have Chronic Lyme Disease, which requires me to eat a mostly clean diet on top of taking medication to actually treat the infection. This diet is hard to keep up most of the time, so I started to Instagram my food, which I love doing! It really keeps me on top of things and gives me inspiration when I'm getting into a rut or am craving something I know will make me sick.

I'm going to outline a little for you here the things I will typically eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner by looking through my Instagram posts. Feel free to follow me on Instagram as there are lots of sweet recipes and other fun things to come. So without further adieu, here we go!

For breakfast, I normally have a cup of either Dandelion, Ginger, or Decaf Green tea from Yogi, Traditional Medicinals, or Celestial Teas. Herbal teas are a necessity in my healing, and they keep me from wanting coffee- I used to only drink iced coffee anyway, not for caffeine, but for taste! I typically drink a giant mason jar full of water and sometimes squeeze fresh lemon and cucumber in it!

I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to make a smoothie and going over all the ingredients, so that will be in a post to come! However, that's what I usually have for breakfast. If I don't have plans, I will have a mid morning breakfast- think 11 am- and that will be either gluten free waffles or toast with peanut butter and cinammon. I only have one banana per day, so if I have it in my smoothie, no bananas for my toast!

The top photo is something I would make myself for lunch if I was eating at home. It's an omelette with tomato, spinach and onions. I do not have cheese in my omelettes because I try to do without dairy when I can!

Lunch varies because I'm usually not home. If I'm at work- a restaurant- I will eat a garden salad with a scoop of tuna salad on top and lemon as a sub for dressing! If I'm going out, I go to Chipotle and get a veggie bowl with black beans and brown rice, just lettuce, mild sauce, guacamole and grilled peppers. I squeeze lemon on top of it to give it some flavor!

Dinner varies a LOT! For dinner, sometimes I don't eat meat, so I'll make a ton of veggies in a pot. I love yams, carrots, broccoli, and asparagus! I also like to add black beans to anything.

Here are some other examples of dinner. I absolutely LOVE avocado, black beans, and quinoa! The top photo is quinoa stuffed red peppers with yams on the side. The bottom is avocado slices, marinated chicken, and a mix of black beans, red quinoa, onion, and cilantro. Of course, I squeezed fresh lemon on all of this and enjoyed! :]

And this is what I actually ate one day as I went through, snack included! My snacks usually consist of cucumber, celery, baby carrots, and green apples.
The top left is gluten free sandwich bread, avocado with garlic salt, and tomato slices.
Top right is my smoothie: plant protein powder, almond milk, cinnamon, cacao nibs, banana, natural peanut butter, oats, chia seeds and flaxseed! This is my favorite part of my day, especially when I add blackberries!
Bottom left is my snack that I took with me to my sister's house that day, celery and cucumber slices.
Bottom right is broccoli, carrots, and sweet potatoes, which I took to my sister's for a late afternoon snack, as I had a late dinner that night.

PHEW! That was a lot! Usually, it's not that easy to eat all of my meals one hundred percent healthy. Sometimes I go out for gluten free veggie pizza, treat myself to super dark chocolate, or eat some gluten free granola. However, THAT to me is cheating, and that's a lot better than I used to eat!
Have a good day, everyone! And please remember to feed your body good foods and don't deprive yourself of what you need to fight diseases! Stay tuned for more and feel free to request more healthy posts! :]

Too Cute Tuesday #1!

Hey, everyone! Welcome to my very first segment of Too Cute Tuesday!
Here on my blog, I plan to spend each Tuesday talking about items I'm currently loving or "needing" in my life!
These posts are going to be a "favorites" of sorts, but I can tell that over time, I will start rambling on and on about things I want. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this post, and check back each Tuesday to see what I've been loving!

1. Hell Bunny Dresses.
Man, oh, MAN, do I love Hell Bunny dresses! They are an affordable pin-up inspired clothing brand that sells phenomenal items for their price point. All items I have from them are high quality and around the fifty-dollar range, which is GREAT for the style.
I purchased these dresses from Hot Topic, and they usually have BOGO 5O The entire store!
The top picture is my favorite, and it was worn on a day that I was feeling great- my boyfriend's and my one year anniversary! <3
In the bottom picture, I was not feeling so hot, but I loved my outfit. Lyme has been kicking my butt lately- currently in bed with pain, as we speak. However, I will not let it take over my life! Dressing cute definitely makes me feel a lot better when I'm sick or just feeling down.

2. Earrings.

I got some cute, cheap earrings from Hot Topic, similar to this set, for only $6! I really recommend Hot Topic for affordable pieces, as they have really good sales. They are a perfect retailer for delightfully tacky items and edgy accessories. A lot of their accessories are, granted, of cheap quality, but it serve a good purpose- to add a little flair to every outfit!

3. Pin Up Girl Clothing- Yard Sale soon!
I've been wanting the PUG Clothing Jenny Skirt in Neverland print for awhile, and it's definitely on my Yard Sale primary list! PUG Clothing is quite pricey, and as someone who's not a die-hard vintage repro lover or full on pin-up girl, I cannot justify the prices. However, they have a yard sale coming up in June, and I am excited to attend my first year and to score my first PUG pieces! I have several lists of things I would like if the items on my primary list are not available, but here are a few other items I hope will be there!
The Bella Donna dress in Red! OMG. This dress is absolutely gorgeous, and I love it in this colorway! I would take it in the black or Italian Landscape, but I really prefer the red.
Film Noir dress, AKA the sexiest dress of life! Dresses at the Yard Sale are usually around forty to sixty dollars, so I am praying for this to be there. It is absolutely gorgeous, and I need it in my life.

Last, but not least, the Birdie Dress. <3 This dress is everything I could ever want. It would be so flattering on me, and I love the colorway! All of these dresses are gorgeous, in my opinion, and I would be so happy to leave with one or all of these pieces!

4. No eyeliner!

In addition to my cozy essentials and warm essentials- California is bipolar in Spring and Fall- I have been loving my makeup looks without eyeliner lately. I feel like it makes my face appear a lot more bright and clean, giving me the appearance of health and radiance. :]
5. My Nike Frees! I absolutely love Nikes, and I could not contain my excitement when my boyfriend got me these awesome babies. I love the colors- they remind me of ice cream! And they will be perfect for the gym, once I start to feel better. <3

That's all for my Too Cute Tuesday! Check in next week to see some more of my adorable favorites!

Big Announcement to Come!

Hey, guys! Today I wanted to share with you a sneak peek of a project my mom has been working on for ahwile, which is the production of these lovely creations!

These are some headbands and a beanie she made me that I wore all throughout the winter. Recently, the weather has been a little stormy in So Cal, which sends us California girls running to our boots and coats. Even though it's really only 65 degrees.
Even though it's going to be warming up, we are going to work on this all summer to be ready for the fall season, which will be awesome!
My mom has gotten a lot of requests over the months, and she decided to start a little business, but more on that later! This is merely meant to be a little teaser and description of what's to come soon! ;]

First up is my favorite headband ever! It's black with really beautiful purple sequins and fine glitter pieces- yeah, I'm a little girl at heart! The yarn for this headband was to die for and a little more expensive than what my mom usually buys, but it turned out gorgeous!
Here's the headband in daylight. I love how it looks with my hair, and the width is perfect!

Next up is this little gem. I love how warm and cozy it looks, and it feels so snug on my head! It's the perfect size, and the width, again, was made to my liking. The yarn is so thick, which is ideal for colder weather!
Here's a photo of me wearing the headband. Again, super comfortable and I love the colors with my hair! Can you tell I like purple and black?

The last piece is this slouchy beanie, which is basically my new BFF. I am a beanie HOARDER, yet I had yet to find one that is slouchy enough for me... until now. This beanie is everything! I have a larger head than most people, so the fact that my mom made a beanie that's extra roomy and slouchy for me is beyond words.

This beanie just can't be outdone, and I've already been planning my wishlist for more colors/designs. So yeah, if you want an awesome beanie like this one, I suggest you stay tuned for more because you don't wanna miss this! :]

First Post: Daily Makeup Look- Full coverage for oily/acne prone skin!

Hey, everyone! Welcome to my blog. [:
I'm Christina, and I used to use this blog in conjuction with my YouTube channel, chrisheartsmakeup11, for those of you who are interested in checking out my old videos from high school. Warning: I never did get past that awkward stage, so brace yourselves.
I'm 22, live in sunny California, eat clean, love to write, and am a server at a restaurant.
My channel- and this blog- used to have makeup tutorials, product reviews, outfit of the day posts, organization tips, and so much more that I've found useful! It's amazing to look back and see what I've learned and how I've grown, but it would have been nice if I had been more consistent.
I've gone through stages where I've tried to get up and running only to hit a road block each time. I definitely prayed about it, and I feel like God felt left out of my plans.
Around the beginning of fall last year, I started a makeup business with my sister, only to have it fade away shortly after Halloween due to my coming down with Lyme Disease.
It took awhile for me to get diagnosed properly, then to accept it, then to start a protocol, and then to finally feel better.
At this time, I finally feel like I can keep pursuing my dreams. I am a servant of The Lord, and I definitely think He has great plans for me. For now, I want to bring my plans to His attention in hopes of Him blessing this blog.
I'm also planning on going back to school in the fall, something I stopped doing to pursue a career in makeup, for either business or to continue and finish my communications degree.
I love reviewing products and anything that has to do with analyzing and planning- mostly because I'm just way too opinionated... and I suffer from overthinking. It's kind of a problem.
Anyway, enough about me. I'm sure you all want to know what my everyday makeup looks like, and if you don't, here it is anyway!

So here it is! My makeup looks pretty flippin' awesome in my opinion, considering the fact that I have horrible acne underneath it all and my skin is usually super oily. This makeup look is my go-to for work and for really any day because it is so fool-proof. Just as a little forewarning, this is a product-heavy routine. However, there are a ton of budget options in here, and the price of beauty can be quite high. You're worth it, though; I promise. And before you guys think I am super un-confident and am promoting "fake beauty," I just want to say that I go without makeup the days I don't work and I don't care who sees. My boyfriend calls me beautiful, and even if he didn't, I know I am because The Lord made everyone beautiful. Makeup is simply a hobby and an interest of mine. I could live without it, but that's a tangent for another day.
Here's what I use to create this look:
1. Foundation: I mix the Covergirl Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Ivory and the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in Shell Beige on my hand with my fingers to warm it up. The CG foundation is a bit too light on me, while the L'Oreal is too dark. I love the consistency this gives as the L'Oreal is a demi-matte and the CG is a matte. The coverage is also unbeatable! I blend these together on my face with a buffing foundation brush.
2. Contour/Highlight: Next, I use the Maybelline Fit Me! Shine Free Foundation Stick in Cappuccino to contour- just apply it to the parameters of your face straight from the stick and blend with a buffing brush! To highlight, I use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in Light Pale, on all the areas the sun would hit and all the areas that are not darkened with contour-separate post on this to come! Blend away with another buffing brush- I literally have like ten.
3. Setting: To set the base, I first use my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium/Deep Matte Bronzer directly on top of the contouring product to set the shadows of my face. For the highlights-everywhere else- I use my Too Faced Amazing Face Powder in Vanilla Creme.
4. Blush and Glow: For blush, I used my Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed to blend upward from the bronzer just under- and around- the apple. For the apples of my cheeks, I used Milani's Powder Blush in Tea Rose with a light hand- it picks up a ton of color! Lastly, I used Wet N Wild's Fergie Highlight in Rose Champagne Glow on the bridge of my nose and the top of cheekbones.

Now for the finishing touches!
Simple as can be! I added extra shimmer with Benefit's Watts Up stick highlighter to the very top of cheekbones, inner corner of eyes, tip of nose, and Cupid's bow. This really helped me to look glowy.
I then added some of Revlon's Grow Luscious Lash Potion Mascara, my legit favorite mascara, pretty generously as I avoided eyeliner today.
I just filled in my brows with the brunette color in the Too Faced Brow Envy kit, added a Maybelline Matte Lipstick in Touch of Spice and spritzed the Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray to keep everything looking good all day! This makeup look lasted a good 12 hours on me before I noticed fading around my nose, which is why it's my holy grail routine.
Hope you enjoyed, and keep checking back for more posts!
